lyrics

There’s a rhinoceros under the bed
Can you believe what I’ve just said
I can see it’s horn sticking through my pillow
Won’t get my forty winks, oh no

Oh I’d better go to another room in this house

There’s a hippopatumus in the bath
If it wasn’t so big I’d have to laugh
Used up my soap and my shampoo
What’s going on, is this a coup

So I’d better move to another room in this house

I’m a little bit hungry
I’m a little bit thirsty
Oh no there’s a crocodile in my kitchen
Oh no its tail is breaking all the dishes

Is there any safer place
Maybe down the stairs
But there’s an elephant in the basement
This is a serious misplacement
I’m in for a number of very large repairs

There’s a rhinoceros under the bed
A crocodile in the kitchen
A hippopatumus in the bath
And you know what I’ve been wishing

If there has to be a zoo inside my house
I’d much prefer to have a mouse
Or a long necked grouse
Or a beetle or a gerbil
Or a rainbow trout
Or a lizard or squirrel
Or our long lost turtle
Or a pot bellied piggy with a snout
Instead I’ve got
These big bad boys
Now how do I get them out

Don’t think anyone would listen now
If I said my pantry has a cow
What I wouldn’t give to hear a simple bow wow wow
Or a chirp or a tweet or a little meow

There’s a rhinoceros under the bed
You might think you’ve been mislead
But if you come over here right now
You’ll see his backside sticking out

Hey on second thought
Can I come over to your house?

As with her last two award winning albums, the new release moves beautifully between diverse musical genres – at moments riotous and full of unrestrained joy, at other moments tender, introspective and melodic. ... more
