Get Up 03:55
Get up get out set off to the blue sky Grab onto the tail of someone’s kite Floating above the town after sunrise There goes the poodle of Mr Dunbright It’s yapping at the Henley’s cat that’s napping in their store Then it spots a squirrel and it charges out the door Barking there beneath the tree Floating on again you see Annie’s café with breakfast served all day Famous for her cherry rhubarb pie Order a fancy coffee or just plain While kids hang out to watch the ducks stroll by They’re on their way to Bailey’s pond another block away Cars are used to stopping when they see the flock parade Children singing songs while they wave And march along with them Fly on a little farther a new scene Farmers at their market on a Sunday Lulu has apples, berries or string beans And Mrs Toon with daffodils and daisies There’s a man on stilts whose making shapes by twisting long balloons Kids in line get restless, parents feed them macaroons Lunch on the creek side lawn if you Blink once another scene is gone Floating in the sky and looking down Everything is beautiful, the sights, the sounds The people and the places in your little town You see it all from here above The things you love Back in your kitchen drinking your sweet tea Having toast and jelly in your PJs Soon you will hear the rest of your family Coming down to join you for the day Just outside the window Mr Dunbright saunters by On his way to Annie’s for her famous rhubarb pie

There’s a rhinoceros under the bed Can you believe what I’ve just said I can see it’s horn sticking through my pillow Won’t get my forty winks, oh no Oh I’d better go to another room in this house There’s a hippopatumus in the bath If it wasn’t so big I’d have to laugh Used up my soap and my shampoo What’s going on, is this a coup So I’d better move to another room in this house I’m a little bit hungry I’m a little bit thirsty Oh no there’s a crocodile in my kitchen Oh no its tail is breaking all the dishes Is there any safer place Maybe down the stairs But there’s an elephant in the basement This is a serious misplacement I’m in for a number of very large repairs There’s a rhinoceros under the bed A crocodile in the kitchen A hippopatumus in the bath And you know what I’ve been wishing If there has to be a zoo inside my house I’d much prefer to have a mouse Or a long necked grouse Or a beetle or a gerbil Or a rainbow trout Or a lizard or squirrel Or our long lost turtle Or a pot bellied piggy with a snout Instead I’ve got These big bad boys Now how do I get them out Don’t think anyone would listen now If I said my pantry has a cow What I wouldn’t give to hear a simple bow wow wow Or a chirp or a tweet or a little meow There’s a rhinoceros under the bed You might think you’ve been mislead But if you come over here right now You’ll see his backside sticking out Hey on second thought Can I come over to your house?

6.
Pie in the sky There’s a moon floating by With a girl on it waving hello She waits for a ride To come down through the night And she catches your eye Can you throw her a rope Time really flies With a girl from the sky And you stroll for a time While the stars light your way How many times Can you journey like this In search of a spell-breaking kiss Or a treasure you missed Then you tumble and sail On the back of a whale As he dives down to reaches below While under the waves You see crystalline caves And an old ship’s remains With a chest full of gold How many times Can you journey like this In search of a spell-breaking kiss Or a treasure you missed When you’re finally back home Not the least bit alone And they say “tell us how was your day” And the moon she winks down At your place on the ground And the love that you’ve found And you’re happy to stay You’ve been tied to the moon You’ve gone under the ocean And still you will always belong To the people who love you Surround you and hug you And gratefully welcome you home Pie in the sky There’s a moon floating by With a girl on it waving hello
7.
It’s the dark side of my room I can see it over there When the moon hides behind my door And there’s but nothing but black spreading Over my floor What do I do To make it through What path can I devise It’s the dark side of my room And I’m afraid to close my eyes It’s the dark side of my room Am I the only one In the shadows I can’t tell if there’s anything There that I’d have to outrun What would I say How could I sway The whims of those unseen It’s the dark side of my room There’s not much distance in between Oh I know I can be A hero in my dreams Oh I know I will see The light in every scene It’s the dark side of my room I envision many things But I won’t utter them aloud just in case They appear along with their friends I’ve tried to sleep I’ve counted sheep And still I’ve come undone It’s the dark side of my room I fear the night has just begun Oh I know I can be A hero in my dreams Oh I know I will see The light in every scene I’ve tried to sleep I’ve counted sheep It must be very late It’s the dark side of my room Alas, I cannot stay awake
8.
All the grownups get to stay up late And it doesn’t matter what I say When I finally fall asleep they can read or watch TV Or have another piece of cake All the grownups get to do what they want And it’s never any other way No one reprimands or makes demands They’re free to choose their fate Life is so unfair I don’t get my fair share In the spring and summer It’s still light at bedtime and No one seems to care All the grownups get the final say And it’s always going to be that way In my bed I keep them talking, want ‘em to be near Still they say goodnight and walk away All the grownups get to stay up late When I’m a grownup I’ll have my cake and eat it too I’ll be the one who makes the rules around here And my kid will sing the same sad song That I sing now All the grownups get to stay up late I do not fully accept my fate When I shout or stomp my feet and say “that’s not fair” Grownups take the bait That’s the way I get to stay up late I get to stay up late
9.
What color is the sunshine What sound does the snow make Can you see the shape of thunder Can you feel the turn of daybreak What color is the sunshine What color is the sunshine What color is a moonbeam What songs do the rocks sing Can you feel the edge of nightfall In the shadow of a bird’s wing What color is a moonbeam What color is a moonbeam All around, when I’m still The breath of trees, the rolling hills What color is the sunshine What color is a rainstorm What sound does the earth make How smooth is a blue sky How jagged is a cloud break What color is a rainstorm When I’m still and make no sound A humming world is all around What color is the sunshine What color is the sunshine
10.
Where you hiding all day long Where you hiding all day long Where you hiding all day long Said the sun to the moon she loved I’m shining over on the other side Shining over on the other side Shining over on the other side Come and find me when you set at night Hey there water, where you gone Hey there water, where you gone Hey there water, where you gone Said the bullfrog to the pond The ice is holding me within Ice is holding me within The ice is holding me within When it warms back up you can jump right in Where your leaves all winter long Where they gone all winter long Where your leaves all winter long Said the snowbird to the trees above They’re deep deep down in the underground Deep deep down in the underground They’re deep deep down in the underground ‘Til the spring has sprung and they sprout back out Why you going round and round Why you going round and round Why you going round and round Said the earth to the sky above You’re the one that’s spinning friend You’re the one that’s spinning friend You’re the one that’s spinning friend I stand still ‘til the very end
11.
I want it, I want it I want it now I try to prolong it But I don’t know how They say the delay Is good for my brain But I want it I want it Before I go insane Give it to me, give it to me Give it to me, give it to me I want it, I want it I want it now I got it, I got it Gonna act real sly When they’re not looking I’m gonna squeeze right by Gonna find the stash From last Halloween Oh I’ll get it, I’ll get it Without being seen Give it to me, give it to me Give it to me, give it to me I want it, I want it I want it now I’m an instigator, negotiator, a gladiator, a “not now” hater Give it to me, give it to me Give it to me, give it to me You don’t want to mess with me I want it, I want it I want it now They say delayed gratification Is a mark of high intellect But presently this temptation Seems like a thing I shouldn’t neglect I want it, I want it I want it now I’m an instigator, negotiator, a gladiator, a “not now” hater An agitator, interrogator, manipulator, a not-so-tolerator I want it, I want it I want it now
12.
How to love yourself When you’re feeling down How to love yourself When you can’t get pick your feet up off the ground Take a look around You gotta find a different view Turn it upside down Make it into something new How to love yourself When you’re feeling oh so bad How to love yourself On the worst day you ever had You gotta take a walk Gotta move around Sing a song And sing it loud Stop that falling Oh you’re falling Keep from falling Down down down down down How to love yourself When you feel like freaking out How to love yourself When you really want to scream and shout You’ve gotta take a breath Try a smile Put your glitter on Show your style Then you take your sad self by the hand You know you’ll make it through thick and thin How to love yourself Love love love love yourself
13.
When you don’t know what to do When you can’t see your way through You’re in a bind When you try to work it out And your head is filled with doubt You’re driving blind You’ve got a problem And you’ve got to solve it Do you remember when you Had another problem in the past The answer was not what you thought In what ways did you proceed To get the data at last And you solved it, did you not When the fog clouds up your mind The solution’s hard to find You’re in a rut You’ve got a problem And you’ve got to solve it Don’t give up on it Stay on top of it Take a look at it from all directions Then take a walk around Think of your favorite song When you come back to it Your problem you will solve Your problem you will solve When the goal seems so far away And you think you don’t have what it takes Keep on and you will figure it out You’ve got a problem And you’ve got to solve it Who do you know who Takes a go at a problem with zest, And a fire in their eyes Oh can you ask them To explain all the theories they’d test The many formulas revised When you don’t know what to do When you can’t see your way through You’ve got a problem Don’t give up on it Stay on top of it Take a look at it from all directions Then take a walk around Think of your favorite song When you come back to it Your problem you will solve Your problem you will solve

You might be out in the middle of the woods You might feel the moss beneath your feet No roads or buildings visible for miles But maybe you’re just outside your door With city sounds and concrete stairs So far away from everything that’s wild Look closer now Look closer now There might be a flower sprouting up in the street Then you look closer and there’s a bee Closer still, there’s gold dust on its knees With wings of lace Now give it space Then you watch it fly to spread the news More flowers blooming soon In different hues Up in your room looking out at the street People and cars keep passing by Sometimes the wild seems so far away But maybe there’s a beetle on your windowsill Look close and you see many shades of blue Closer still and it shimmers like a jewel With wings of lace You give it space Now watch it fly lifting through the air No matter where you are Wild is everywhere Oh when you’re looking at the stars And everything else disappears Oh it may make you feel small But you know You’re connected to it all You might be running in the wind and sun You might feel the sand beneath your feet With colored shells and driftwood all around But maybe you’re just outside your door With city sounds and concrete stairs So far away from everything that’s wild Up in your room looking out at the street People and cars keep passing by Sometimes the wild seems so far away There might be a flower sprouting up in the street Then you look closer and there’s a bee Closer still, there’s gold dust on its knees Or maybe there’s a beetle on your windowsill Look close and you see many shades of blue Closer still and it shimmers like a jewel

about

With “A vividly perceptive eye, a vast musical landscape, and a voice rich in both purity and nuanced detail,” Sara Lovell has delivered another delightful album for kids and their families. Following up her award-winning 2016 release, Lovell’s latest album, “Wild is Everywhere,” covers a wide range of topics and musical styles. The 14 original songs journey through a landscape populated with flying children, misplaced animals of a certain size, and insects or flowers that turn up in the most unexpected places. So “grab onto the tail of someone’s kite” and fly into the wildness that lies just outside your door.

Thank You:

To Gabe, my growing boy, who continues to inspire me to sing more, laugh more, play more and love more.

To my collaborating partners extraordinaire - this album would not have reached its full potential without your artistry, heart and humor:

- Monica Pasqual, the most intuitive producer, co-writer/arranger I could ever hope for.

- BZ Lewis, my favorite guitar player and engineer, and also one heck of a drum coach.

To the wonderful musicians who brought these songs to life - Josh McClain, Erik Pearson, Irene Sazar, Destani Wolf, and Pam Delgado.

To Anna Silivonchik for another exquisite painting that captures the spirit of this collection of songs.

Here’s to a vision of the world we want to live in, one of kindness and imagination, joy and belonging - this album is dedicated to families, children of all ages, and to their communities.
