With a little room inside
The moon had a lamp
A table with a bed beside

There was an owl
And there were children
Outside were stars
Perhaps a million

Once there was a moon
The moon was fond of sleeping
Sometimes one eye closed
The other eye still beaming

And the door was open wide
With nobody inside
Oh the children they had walked away
While dreaming

They wandered to the edge
Of this spinning world
With a rocket soaring by
Their feet were planted firm
Not afraid of falling down
They walked until they found a town
Where all were sleeping

Once there was a moon
He had a little kerchief

To make a little mischief

Some nights the moon
A tiny golden crescent

He called for his friends
